Professor Piotr Samczyński, DSc, PhD, Eng. – Professor at Warsaw University of Technology and Head of the Radar Imaging Techniques Research Group at the Institute of Electronic Systems, Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology. He is also the co-founder of XY-Sensing Ltd., where, since 2018, he has held the CEO position. His research focuses on digital radar signal processing, passive radar systems and synthetic-aperture imaging radars, including SAR and ISAR systems. He has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific publications, as well as patents and technological solutions in the field of advanced radar systems.
For many years, he has represented Poland in the research groups of the NATO Science and Technology Organization. From 2018 to 2022, he chaired NATO Research Task Group SET-258, which focused on the development of multiband active-passive radar systems. In recognition of his key role in strengthening the NATO SET (the SEnsing Technology) work programme, he was awarded the 2020 NATO SET Panel Early Career Award and the 2020 and 2023 NATO SET Panel Excellence Award. Since 2023, he chairs NATO Research Task Group SET-320, “New Frontiers in Modern Passive Radar”. In 2025, he was elected vice-chair of the NATO STO SET Panel.
He is a member of the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society Radar Systems Panel and a recipient of the IEEE Fred Nathanson Memorial Radar Award. Currently, he is a vice chair of the Polish Section of the IEEE. His professional activity combines scientific research with the development and implementation of advanced radar technologies.
